Don Coryell

Don Coryell

Don Coryell was a Seattle native and University of Washington defensive back who became one of football’s most influential coaches. He was NFL Coach of the Year in 1974 with the St. Louis Cardinals. But he gained fame when he moved to the San Diego Chargers and installed his pass-first offense. “Air Coryell” dominated the AFC West in the early 1980s and transformed the NFL. About a decade after Coryell’s passing in 2010, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
