Sammy the Sounder

In 2025, Sammy the Sounder was a constant presence on matchday - surprising fans, elevating the in-stadium energy, and being a connector with fans locally and abroad. He helped welcome teams and fans across the world to Lumen Field through unforgettable fan-first experiences. As one of the 75 global cities on the FIFA Club World Cup Trophy Tour, Sammy welcomed the trophy to the PNW via a Washington State Ferry arrival and tour of iconic landmarks. Sammy then connected with international mascots during the FIFA Club World Cup through jersey swaps.  

Sammy was a cornerstone of “First Match On Us; “a revolutionary new program that provides the opportunity for anyone to attend their first-ever Sounders match at no cost. Sammy helped celebrate several memorable and record-setting moments in 2025, including Sounders FC becoming the second club in MLS history (and fastest) to reach 10 million fans at MLS Regular Season home matches, and breaking the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the world's largest soccer lesson alongside Reign FC, RAVE Foundation, Seattle FIFA World Cup 2026, and the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.    

Sammy the Sounder extended the impact of the Sounders FC mascot program beyond matchday, serving as a global ambassador. A lasting legacy of Seattle hosting matches for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, Sammy joined The RAVE Foundation in 11 mini pitch openings in 2025 as a part of the 26 for 26 (and 26 more for 26) initiatives helping to make soccer free for as many communities as possible. Across these celebrations and global moments, Sammy not only created memorable experiences, but also helped advance access to the world’s game and brought the Seattle Sounders FC mission to life in neighborhoods across our state and beyond.
