Mike and Kathy Holmgren

Mike Holmgren is best known in Seattle for leading the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl, but he and his wife Kathy also are having a super-sized impact on a wider playing field. They help communities across three continents. Kathy, who is a nurse, has joined Medical Teams International relief efforts at disaster sites in Mexico, Eastern Europe and Africa. Mike helped organize Seahawk game-day fund raisers that collected hundreds of thousands of dollars for the group. Medical Teams International recognized their efforts by naming its regional headquarters in Redmond after them. The Holmgrens also helped launch Circlewood, a Pacific Northwest non-profit that promotes sustainable, environmentally conscious ways of life. They played key roles in developing its learning center on Camano Island. Helping people near and far is what they do, at a bigtime level.
