Kenny Mayne
Kenny Mayne, recognized nationally for his work on ESPN from 1994 to 2021, is known more locally as “Kent’s favorite son” hailing from Kent, Washington and making frequent trips back to the area to support the sports community. He played quarterback at Wenatchee Valley College and the University of Las Vegas, after which he launched a long television career that focused on the fun side of sports. He worked for seven years at Tacoma-based KSTV and then moved to ESPN where he entertained national audiences for 27 years. He did everything from hosting SportsCenter to covering Thai elephant polo on “Kenny Mayne’s Wider World of Sports.” He also had a regular NFL segment called “The Mayne Event,” and hosted streaming coverage of the 2020 Summer Olympics on Peacock. He has been a regular contributor to Seattle’s Sports Star of the Year award shows, adding laughs with his trademark styles of deadpan humor.
