Our Sports Teams - Professional Sports
Seattle is a sports fan's paradise! The city hosts five major professional teams in stadiums and arenas in the heart of downtown Seattle. Come out for a sporting experience like no other!
Enfranchised in 1977, the Seattle Mariners already have a smattering of milestones to their credit including four Baseball Hall of Fame inductees; Randy Johnson's 1990 no-hitter, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sr. playing on the same roster, a 1995 AL West title, 2001's record setting 116 win season, and Ichiro's 2004 single season hit record.
The Mariners' retro-style Safeco Field is one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. It's also one of only a handful of stadiums with a retractable roof (which can open or close in 10-20 min.), allowing the Mariners a real grass playing field without the worry of getting rained out.
You can come see Felix Hernandez and the rest of the Mariners baseball team battle for a top spot amongst the AL West division this season.
The 2014 World Champion Seattle Seahawks have developed more respect in their home town and across the nation. Currently residing in the NFC West, the Seahawks play at cutting-edge CenturyLink field. Located in downtown Seattle, the "CLINK" is considered one of the loudest stadiums to play in, often reaching 132 decibels (that’s as loud as a jet engine). The roaring sound of the 12s helps CenturyLink Stadium hold some of the highest false start numbers against opposing teams.
A Seahawks game is an event that any NFL fan needs to experience. You can buy tickets here and experience the excitement of Seahawks football for yourself!
In 2007 Paul Allen and TV personality Drew Carey, among others, invested and won the right for an MLS expansion team. Thus, the Sounders FC was born. The history for the Sounders FC has not been long, but has provided the team with great success with three consecutive Open Cup wins between 2009-2011.
In the teams inaugural season, Sounders FC offered 22,000 season tickets, all of which were sold out. Since then, the Sounders FC has been shattering attendance records. With the highest average attendance in the MLS, the Sounders also compete in international attendance. If the Sounders FC competed in the English Premier league their attendance would be ranked #6 in the league, an impressive feat for one of the most popular football leagues.
I know I am, I'm sure I am, I am Sounders Til’ I die!
Come join the record breaking MLS crowds, and all of their chants, songs and cheering, right here in Seattle at CenturyLink field. The Sounders have proved that they are still fierce competitors and the fans have continued to come out in droves!
Like their name, the Seattle Storm brings tenacity and power to women's basketball. Established in 2000, experience has made the Storm an unforgettable team to watch. With eight playoff appearances and two championships in 2004 and 2010, the Storm are a perennial powerhouse in the WNBA.
Sue Bird and the rest of the Seattle Storm continually show fans an action-packed game filled with exhilarating atheticism. Come join the fun and get your tickets to see the Storm in action!
Professional women’s soccer came to Seattle in 2012 with the forming of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and in 2013 the Seattle Reign played their inaugural season. The Reign finished their first season with a 5-14-3 record and ranked 7th in an eight team league.
Despite a slow start, the Reign, led by Laura Harvey, orchestrated two 1st place regular season finishes clinching the NWSL Shield in consecutive seasons (2014-15). However, the Reign has yet to win a championship final. In both seasons, the Reign advanced to the championship final only to lose to FC Kansas City in both years.
Come out to Memorial Stadium in Seattle to catch a Seattle Reign game. It is sure to be a fantastic experience for all sports fans!
