Our Sports Teams - Professional Sports
Seattle is a sports fan's paradise with four major professional teams playing in stadiums and arenas in the core of the city's downtown.
|Seattle Mariners || |
Enfranchised in 1977, the Seattle Mariners already have a smattering of milestones to their credit including four Baseball Hall of Fame inductees, Randy Johnson's 1990 no-hitter, Ken Griffey Jr. and Sr. playing on the same roster, a 1995 AL West title, 2001's record setting 116 win season, and Ichiro's 2004 single season hit record.
The Mariners' retro-style Safeco Field is one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. It's also one of only a handful of stadiums with a retractable roof (which can open or close in 10-20 min.), allowing the Mariners a real grass playing field without the worry of getting rained out.
You can come see Ichiro, Felix Hernandez, and Franklin Gutierrez battle for a top spot amongst the AL West division this season.
Ever since they made it to the Super Bowl in 2006, the Seattle Seahawks have developed a more respect in their home town and across the nation. Currently residing in the NFC West, the Seahawks play at cutting-edge Qwest field. Located in downtown Seattle, Qwest Field is considered one of the loudest stadiums to play in, often reaching 132 decibels (that’s as loud as a jet engine) and resulting in the highest offside and false start penalties in the NFL.

|Seattle Sounders FC || |
In 2007 Paul Allen, and TV personality Drew Carey among others, invested in the team and won the right for an MLS expansion team and the Sounders FC was born. The history for the Sounders FC has not been long, but has provided the team with great success with three consecutive Open Cup wins between 2009-2011.
In the teams inaugural season offered 22,000 season tickets, all of which were sold out. From here on out the Sounders FC have been shattering attendance records. With the highest average attendance in the MLS, the Sounders also compete in international attendance. If the Sounders FC competed in the English Premier league their attendance would be ranked #6 in the league, an impressive feat for one of the most popular football leagues.
