Personal: Son of Ronald and Mackey Stanley ... has two older siblings, Molly and Andy ... started diving at age 13 ... was a springboard diver until seeing a video of four-time Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis diving platform and decided he wanted to do that (there were no platforms in his area, so until seeing that video, he did not know platform diving was a possibility) ... because there were no platforms near his hometown, he would drive five hours round trip once
a month to train on a tower for a few days, until moving to the National Training Center in Indianapolis in 2009 ... was a gymnast for seven years ... also plays clarinet.
