Female Sports Star of the Year

The Female Sports Star of the Year is given to a female athlete or coach for outstanding sports achievement in the past year or season.



Courtney Vandersloot - Gonzaga Basketball

Led the Gonzaga Women's Basketball team to a 31-5 record and a trip to the Elite 8 in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Awarded Francis Pomeroy Naismith Award for top player under 5'8" and the Lieberman Award for the top PG in Division I. Drafted third by the Chicago Sky in the WNBA Draft and selected to the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game. 


Jenn Salling - University of Washington Softball

Named to the Second Team of the Lowes Senior Class All-American team, awarded the PAC-10 Defensive player of the year, selected as a NFCA 2nd Team All-American and named as a PAC-10 First Team All-American in her Senior season with the Husky Softball team. Drafted third in the 2011 National Pro Fastpich Draft to the USSSA Pride.  


Julie Woodward - Seattle U Women's Soccer

Earned her 200th career win at her alma mater as the head coach of the Seattle University Women's Soccer team. Led the Redhawks to a 12-6-1 record in her 15th season at the position and is the all-time winningest coach in the program history.  


Maddie Meyers - Northwest High School Runner

Northwest High School runner who finished an amazing high school career with a convincing win in the State XC Championships, an event that she has swept in all four years along with 8 Track & Field titles. Broke her own National High School record when finishing sixth with a time of 6 minutes and 29 seconds at the 2,000m steeplechase IAAF World Youth Championships in France. 

Queen Underwood - USA Boxing

Former Garfield High School graduate that won her fifth straight US Lightweight Boxing Championship at the 132 pound weight class. Ranked fourth in the world boxing rankings.
