Washington Games

The Washington Games promote health and fitness through Olympic-style sporting events offered throughout Washington. As a nonprofit, 501(c)3, organization, the Washington Games will achieve its mission and deliver the greatest impact on Washington's residents under the Powered by You health initiative.

During the 2008 Washington Games, thousands of athletes will compete in traditional and non-traditional athletic competitions. Ultimately, the Washington Games will strive to expand individual sports competitions and create premier events within each category. The elite to recreational participants in Olympic, extreme and emerging sports will be welcomed into an active lifestyle.

The Washington Games is a member of the National Congress of State Games (NCSG). This association involves more than 40 states and 500,000 participants annually and is sanctioned by the United States Olympic Committee.

Vision
The Washington Games will be recognized as one of the finest series of amateur sporting events in the Northwest, one of the best state games in the country and an effective sports marketing tool for youth obesity prevention in Washington.

To promote physical fitness and health through participation in competitive sports from a recreational to a championship level.

Philosophy
Involving our state's youth in competitive sports activities is an effective way to encourage residents to be physically fit and avoid obesity. By participating in high quality amateur sports and recreational activities, Washington's youth will improve their health to participate in the Washington Games.

Event Overview
The Washington Games will include more than 20 sports and recreational events attracting thousands of  participants and spectators statewide. This will provide thousand of people who will be directly impacted annually by this health initiative. Millions of additional impressions will be made through advertising, promotions, thousands of mailers, coaching clinics, advertising and other publicity.

The Washington Games will work to incorporate events that encourage participation by inactive young people and build a bridge to a healthier lifestyle.
