Sports Executive of the Year

The Sports Executive of the Year is given to an individual for contributions to the success of the regional sports industry.

 2009

Tod Leiweke - Seattle Seahawks & Sounders FC
The 2009 “Sports Executive of the Year” was awarded to Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC CEO Tod Leiweke.  In the Sounders 2009 inaugural season, the team made the playoffs and set attendance records for the league.  This award is given to an individual in an executive or leadership position who has demonstrated excellence, innovation, creativity, outstanding leadership and vision in the sports community during the past year. 

 

 2010

Karen Bryant - Seattle Storm
President and CEO Karen Bryant guided the Seattle Storm through an ownership change, hired coach Brian Agler and presided over the franchise’s second championship season.

 

 2011

Gary Wright - Seattle Sounders FC
Gary Wright helped launch two Seattle sports franchises. He was the Seahawks’ Vice President of Administration when he left in 2008 and became the Sounders’ Senior VP of Business Operations.

 
 

2012

Adrian Hanauer -Seattle Sounders FC                     
Sounders FC general manager and co-owner Adrian Hanauer was the architect of Seattle's Major League Soccer franchise, internationally recognized as a model of success, on and off the field.
